Superintendent's Update: January 19th, 2024

Weekly What’s Going Well:

The weather has again made for a challenging week as we work our way through January.  Thanks to the hard working Transportation and Facilities teams for all their efforts to keep the heat on in the buildings, snow moved out of the way, and students transported safely to and from school each day.  Check out the video and read below for more news from around the district.

Conferences Next Week

We will be dismissing early on Thursday Jan 25th and no school on Friday Jan 26th for conferences.  Check out the weekly notes from your building(s) to sign up for a time to connect with teachers about your student’s academic progress this year.  SEL data will be shared during conferences for each student that had active permission to participate in the survey.

League of Women Voters Hosts Panel

The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a forum to learn more about the AEAs and their work for the education of all our children.   A panel discussion will take place on Monday January 29th at 7:00 PM at Drake Community Library in Grinnell.  Reach out to grinnelllwv@gmail.com for more information or to submit a question for the panelists.

District Large Group Speech Contest this weekend
Several high school students will be heading to Pella for the District Large Group Speech contest.  Break a leg!

Winter Athletes Beat the Weather
Although the weather has made it harder, our Grinnell Tiger athletes have risen to the occasion!  Basketball, Wrestling, and Swimming teams are still putting in the effort to do their best!  There’s still time to get out and support Grinnell Athletics before the winter seasons wrap up.  Check out the Activities Calendar linked below to find out when the next contests will be! Go Tigers!

Hard Surface Bus Routes
As a reminder, we will be on hard surface bus routes until further notice.  Another voice reach/email/text will go out when we resume normal bus routes.  A big thanks to all of our bus drivers for their diligence in getting students to school safely each day!
