July District Update

 

Hello Grinnell-Newburg Families!
 

Happy Summer!  Here’s a mid-summer check in with some helpful information as we start to think about the next school year!  

 

Registration

Online Registration is open 24/7!  Please take a moment to register your students if you have not already done so.  Log in to your Parent Portal on Infinite Campus and follow the steps to update your information for the upcoming school year.  You can also get there by clicking on this link. Families can also log in to pay fees and bring lunch accounts up to date. 

In person Registration Night is set for Monday August 5th from 4:00-7:00pm in the High School Cafeteria.  Assistance will be available to help families complete all forms including FRAM, Bus Transportation, Activities, Parent Portal, etc.

Free and Reduced Meals Applications

The Free and Reduced Meals (FRAM) Application process opened on July 1st.  You can complete these forms on Infinite Campus or paper copies.  Click here to find out more information about this program and to print the forms needed. There is also a form to apply to have school fees waived.  FRAM applications area accepted year round and Fee Waivers must be completed and returned no later than October 4th.  Please reach out to Kim Sieck at kim.sieck@grinnell-k12.org with any questions.  

 

Transportation

Any students needing transportation for the upcoming school year must have the proper Transportation Form completed. These can be found by clicking here.  For any transportation questions, please reach out to Chris Astelle at chris.astelle@grinnell-k12.org.  

 

Health

The following are required screenings and immunizations mandated by Iowa Law.  If your student will be entering one of the following grades, you must provide proof of the screening and/or immunization prior to the start of school.  

Pre-K: physical

Kindergarten: Dental screening, vision screening, physical, all required immunizations for 

3rd Grade: Vision screening

7th Grade: Tdap and meningococcal vaccinations

9th Grade: Dental screening

12th Grade: Meningococcal vaccination 

Athletes: physical form, concussion form, good conduct form, and participation form found here

School Permits

The Iowa DOT has announced that beginning July 1, 2024, the Minor School License will be updated and renamed to the Special Minor’s Restricted License (SMRL).  This change introduces several significant updates to the current system.  Learn more about your student’s safe and legal driving here.  The paperwork for a student obtaining the SMRL can be signed by Lisa Beames, Lisa Briggs, or Trent Edsen.

Summer Office Hours

The District Office is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30am-4:00pm and Fridays from 7:30am-noon.  The buildings will begin to open back up the week of July 29th with hours Monday through Thursday of 8:00am-4:00pm and Fridays from 8:00am-noon.
