Happy Friday! This morning’s fog reminded me to make sure that my information in Infinite Campus was up to date in the event of a late start, hard surface pick up, or school closure. As we head into the winter season in the coming months, please be sure that you are able to receive a voice reach.
December 21, 2018 Early Dismissal
Just a reminder that next Friday students will be released two hours early to begin their holiday break. Dismissal will be at 1:15 PM.
Facility Listening Tours: I am looking forward to listening to our community at the following facility listen tour events listed below! Participants will have an opportunity to walk down memory lane, learn about current instructional practices, and tour the facility. The majority of the time will be spent listening to our community about solutions regarding our school facilities. We are starting over, and hope that you will join us to share your thoughts. Once all of the listening tours are complete, we will engage an ADHOC committee made up of representatives from the community, farmers, businesses, parents, students, CMBA, Bluestone Engineers and staff to review all of the information we have collected to bring scenarios back to the community for review.

Board Meeting Recap:
Congratulations to the Bailey Park Paras for being recognized by their principal, Josh Smith, for going above and beyond to support teachers and students on a daily basis.
FFA Presents:
Thank you to our FFA student leaders for sharing their leadership and conference experiences during the FFA National Convention this past October, 2018.

You may have noticed on this past week’s Board agenda that we received several donations not only for the Robotics Team, but also for GMS invisible Closet, (GMRC). We are grateful to Alliant Energy, GMRC, University of Iowa Credit Union, and Grinnell Mutual for their donations to support our students.
GHS Invisible Closet Tree:
The Invisible Closet Tree is up in the Counseling Office at the High School. We have hats, mittens, scarves socks sweatshirts and coats available. If you are in need of any of these items, or know another student who is in need, please stop by and pick something out! If you would prefer, you can also email Mrs. Plagge or your counselor about getting some winter gear! This is also an opportunity to give back if you are able. Feel free to bring in any of the items listed above in new or lightly used, clean condition!
Yes! It was concert week. This is one of my favorite weeks of the year to listen to all band and choir students in grades 5-12. Wonderful performances!

Upcoming Event: Student Sponsored Community Dance Marathon
Please note on January 5, 2019 starting at 5:00 PM in GHS cafeteria we will be hosting a Dance marathon that will benefit the Pediatric Cancer and Bone Marrow Transplant patients at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. This is a 12 hour event. This is open to all community members.
Schedule 5-7:00 PM is open to the community who do not wish to stay overnight.
Small children are welcome to participate and visit with Tina the Tiger
Food and Games will be available
5:00 PM through 5:00 AM is the dance a marathon
